Tips on How to Install Handyseal

Product.
Handyseal is a versatile, simple, corrugated PVC flashing designed for a few simple jobs.
It has a bib of about 15mm for fixing through and a corrugated profile that is designed to fit into 76mm wide, 16mm deep corrugated cladding that matches Australia’s standard corrugated roofing and walling profile.

What complications may you meet?
Corrugated and high-profile sheeting can be shrunk and or stretched during installation or due to the movement of structural sections of a building, cladding being stepped on or through aged wear and tear. This means you may need to cut, trim, and restart the position of the sealing product you are using.

Why is sheeting shrunk or stretched during installation?
Wall cladding may be physically pulled together, or apart, for several reasons. The most common ones are they installers are trying to align profiles to the building’s openings like windows or doors. They also adjust sheets to keep them plumb (vertically/horizontally) Reaching the corner of a building with a certain number of sheets is another reason to shrink or stretch the wall sheets.

Installing.
Generally, starting beside an overlap of the sheet is the recommended method as this is where sheeting may have been shrunk or stretched during the building of the structure and as such, you can start the adjustment at the source.
You can nail or screw through the bib to fix the seal into position.
You adjust the fit by cutting the Handyseal strip at appropriate locations to allow for shrink or creep. This is why it is a good idea to have a few extra pieces in your order.

Finishing up.
To obtain a seal over and above the standard fit you can use a bead of silicon supported by the handyseal.
